Hello there!
I'm Mats, a retired ex-programmer that loves photography, music and writing. I was diagnosed with Asperger's very late in life, something that has helped me quite a bit to understand myself and come to terms with how I function. Today I'm mostly just proud of it, most people I really admire here in life have at least some tendencies in that direction.
Anyway, welcome to my little space in the DeviantArt jungle, and please make yourselves at home. All input, reflections, tips, comments, messages or questions are always welcome. ❤️
Mats

I've been a bit lazy going out to check in in people lately, sorry about that. But your photos are as amazing as always. 😊
Thank You ... ⭐️ ... !
Well, you really returned it. Thanks a lot for that, Beatrycze. And thanks also for the fantasy book list. Since you like me hold Ursula K. Leguin in such a high regard (I think that the Earthsea trilogy is the best fantasy ever written) I guess I might find something I like on your list. 😊
You're very welcome, it was a pleasure! And thank you for faving too!
Le Guin's work not only was a great read, but these books had an impact on me - on ideas I thought about, and sort of took (embraced?). Somehow it's hard for me now to find works, I think her books shaped me in some way, for which I am grateful.
The books I proposed here are, actually, various in styles and atmosphere.
Patricia McKillip work was a bit similar in atmosphere (not as good, in my opinion, but interesting).
"Innkeeper's song" and short stories from this world "Giant bones" also go in this way.
(if you had some questions about some of the books on the list, ask me in the comment)
Have a great Easter weekend!
I hope to sometime find books with similar depth to Ged's journey: meeting and integrating his own shadow, being imprisoned in the underworld while keeping old earth powers at bay, meeting Tenar with her complex history and challenges, facing and befriending powerful and ancient dragons, and so much more, but I'm not at all sure I will ever find it. On the surface I guess that The Earthsea trilogy might look like just an ordinary fantasy tale, but it carries so much deeper psychological and mythological themes than almost anything else I've ever read. To me, it makes LOTR look pale in comparison, and then I really love LOTR. And it is an amazingly good story as well, you can just read it and enjoy it without bothering so much about the deeper layers, the whole thing is pure genius. I have hoped so much for a good series of movies on these books for many, many years, but so far none has showed up. But maybe some time it will happen. I've actually not read the entire series, when I found them back in the 70's there was only three of them available, but this reminds to reread the first ones as well as reading the final three. Feels a bit weird that I haven't done that already, considering how amazing I thought the first three were. Anyway, I'll stop rambling now. Thanks a lot for narrowing down your book tips for me, Beatrycze, I'll definitely check them out. Wish you a great Easter as well! 😊
